I-5 Solar Panels

I was driving home from the Salem Oregon area when I noticed a strange sight along the freeway. Solar panels were set up in a fenced off area along the side of the road and I mean ALOT of solar panels. I Googled the area when I returned home and it turns out that ODOT was the agency responsible for installing the first of what apparently will be 594 solar panels along the interchange of I-5 and I-205

The system stretches the length of about two football fields and is located near Tualatin. The plan is for ODOT to procuring 2 million kilowatt hours per year of renewable electricity on property owned by the agency.

This is ODOT's way of contributing to the state mandate of securing all of its electricity from renewable resources by 2010 and I say power to em!
